Muzeum Rodu Książąt Lubomirskich

Museum of the Lubomirski Princes Family

EXHIBITION

The museum consists of 11 spaces that guide visitors through the history of the Lubomirski family against the background of the history of Poland and Europe.

Each room presents a different fragment of this story, showing how the family’s fate intertwined with important historical events. The objects presented in the museum come from the Lubomirski Princes Collection, gathered by successive generations.

Among the exhibits are both works of art, historical objects, and memorabilia related to the family heritage. A special place is occupied by the permanent exhibition, which includes objects dating from ancient Rome up to modern and contemporary times. The collected holdings present an enormous variety — they include paintings, documents, sculptures, militaria, and everyday objects that allow for a better understanding of the realities of life over the centuries. They create a multidimensional image of the past, combining artistic, representative, and utility objects, which allows one to trace both great history and the everyday life of past epochs.

The collection also includes works by outstanding artists such as Rembrandt, Albrecht Dürer, Jacopo Tintoretto, Jan de Herdt, Giovanni Battista Lampi, Per Krafft the Elder, Marcello Bacciarelli, Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, Julian Fałat, Jacek Malczewski, Teodor Axentowicz, and Leon Wyczółkowski, which additionally emphasizes the rank and diversity of the collection.

Museum of the Lubomirski Princes Family

A place where history meets modern and contemporary art

Alongside exhibitions dedicated to the history of the family and historical heritage, an important part of the museum consists of galleries presenting modern art.

The collection contains works by artists who have permanently left their mark on the history of world art. Among them can be found works by creators such as Edgar Degas, Count Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Marquis Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, Joan Miró, Roy Lichtenstein, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ai Weiwei, and Damien Hirst, as well as many other outstanding artists.

In this way, the museum creates an exceptional space for dialogue between the past and the present – a place where centuries-old heritage meets icons of contemporary art.

We cordially invite you to discover an exhibition in which the history of the Lubomirski family intertwines with the history of Poland, and the art of past epochs harmoniously coexists with contemporary art.
