Princes Lubomirski foundations

The Princes Lubomirski Family has permanently gone down in the history of Poland through its architectural, scientific, educational, and military foundations. Many of them had a sacred and educational character, thanks to which they have served the society until now. The princes for more than five hundred years have been active on the Polish territory in the field of charity. In this way they carry out the formula written in the coat of arms “Turned to the Homeland” (Patriam Versus).
Find below the list of the most significant Princes Lubomirski foundations, most of which have survived until now.

The Lubomirski Princes also today continue the family tradition. The Princes Lubomirski Foundation (www.fundacjaksiazatlubomirskich.pl) serves this goal through conducting social, educational and academic activities. Prince Stanisław Lubomirski – Lanckoroński is the founder, whereas Prince Jan Lubomirski-Lanckoroński – President. The authorities of the organization fund computers for primary schools in towns related to the family, scholarships for students of the Kraków University of Economics coming from the former Eastern borderlands of the Republic of Poland, co-finance the Szreniawa Sports Club from Wiśnicz. The Foundation cooperates on a regular basis with The Wilanów Palace Museum, which was founded by the members of the family while organizing joint exhibitions and publications, among others the first cookery book written in the Polish language and the exhibition “The Lubomirski Family at Wilanów. Politics and private life” accompanied by the publishing of the catalogue of the exhibition and the book “Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski and artists”. The Foundation is also involved in drawing up and issuing their own valuable book items.
The Princes Lubomirski Foundation also supports the local community in the princes’ hometown – Wiśnicz. It provides financial and organizational support for the Historical Reconstruction Group “Per Saecula” operating in the town. It is in the course of establishing cooperation with The Prince Charles Foundation concerning ecological construction. The organization also supports the reconstruction of historical monuments related to the Lubomirski Family – the church located on the site of the Monastery of the Barefoot Carmelites in Wiśnicz and the ancestral castle. It is planned to issue another books about the history of the family and create a centre for victims of domestic violence in Łódź.
The great success of the Foundation is charity balls held at the said castle. So far, there have been three such projects, which were attended by eminent representatives of science, the aristocracy, business and politics. The money raised at the first ball made it possible to build a hospital for children with cerebral palsy. The funds raised at the second ball – to purchase a CAT scanner for detecting cancers among the youngest patients. During the third ball, money for the purchase of an ambulance for the Poviat Hospital in Bochnia was raised, which will be handed over to the facility soon. Current activities of the Foundation are financed by Prince Jan Lubomirski – Lanckoroński and Princess Dominika Kulczyk – Lubomirska (the President of Values Group and the Green Cross Poland Foundation).
